WASPI Statement Response to Liz Kendall

You will have seen on our website here that the Work and Pensions Minister Liz Kendall responded to the Ombudsman’s report.   Chair of WASPI Angela Madden has responded saying:

“The Government has today made an unprecedented political choice to ignore the clear recommendations of an independent watchdog which ordered ministers urgently to compensate WASPI women nine months ago”.

“This is a bizarre and totally unjustified move which will leave everyone asking what the point of an ombudsman is if ministers can simply ignore their decisions.  It feels like a decision that would make the likes of Boris Johnson and Donald Trump blush.

“An overwhelming majority of MPs back WASPI’s calls for fair compensation and all options remain on the table.  If the Government cannot act to put things right, Parliament must now seek an alternative mechanism to force this issue to the order paper so justice can be done”.

WASPI yesterday and today immediately responded to a barrage of press and media enquiries as there is great interest in this latest development.

WASPI will take time to consider what options we have, including taking high level legal advice which we have always done.

We will be posting press articles and media interviews on our website as soon as time allows.

The fight isn’t over.  We Campaign on.
