Unite Women’s Committee – 22 July 2025

Today, the inaugural meeting of Unite’s new women’s committee invited WASPI’s Angela Madden to update them on the campaign’s progress. Angela explained how it took the Ombudsman 6 years to conclude that DWP maladministered the communication of State Pension age changes for women. It took the Labour Government 6 months to undermine him. This is particularly galling as Labour supported the campaign right up to the point, they had the power to do something about it.

Unite’s women are fully behind WASPI women and will do everything they can to support the call for fair compensation. We are really grateful for their strong support, alongside colleagues across the whole trade union movement
