This article concentrates on the parliamentary debate held on 3rd July. It starts with a reference to Rebecca Long-Bailey’s closing remarks to the work and pensions minister Torsten Bell who outlined the government’s position in refusing the compensation recommended by the ombudsman. She said “But at the moment, he’s got to understand that the arguments being put forward by the Government are absurd, to say the least. In fact, they’re akin to somebody arguing that the world is flat, in denying the Ombudsman’s report.”
The article also covers Rebecca Long-Bailey’s opening speech which started the debate along with some of the points raised by MP’s from across the house and gives more detail of the response from the Government by MP Torsten Bell.
