BBC issues correction addressing WASPI compensation coverage

It seems the BBC stated that the Public and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) opposed the payment of compensation for WASPI women for the impact of the maladministration found by him. This is not true, it was the PHSO who recommended the levels of compensation WASPI is asking the Government to honour.
This recommendation followed a six year investigation which looked in depth at the cases of six WASPI women and considered evidence from the DWP, WASPI and others. It is the role of the PHSO to hold Government department to account when they get things wrong – it is one of the checks and balances in our democracy.
