WASPI tells Work and Pensions Committee the impact of Government’s refusal to pay compensation

WASPI and the Ombudsman gave evidence to the Work and Pensions Committee on 22nd January. Several papers took up the story and the express ran an opinion piece. The focus of the newspapers is the Government’s betrayal of WASPI women and how we are being “airbrushed out of history”. Keir Starmer has the power to ignore the Ombudman’s report following a 6-year inquiry, but does he have the right? Many backbench MPs say no. The Ombudsman laid his report before Parliament and Parliament should be given the opportunity to debate and vote on the suggested remedies. How can the Government say that they accept Maladministration but not the injustices flowing from it?
