PAPER PETITION

Thank you to all the local groups for the fantastic efforts you've made with the paper petition.

In addition a huge WASPI Thank You to all our wonderful MPs who did the Campaign proud. We are so grateful for your fabulous support and help in enabling the Paper petition to be signed, collated and presented to Parliament on the evening of the 11th October 2016.

This was an historic day for WASPI, as it brought our campaign to the heart of Government - especially with the inestimable cross-party support which the Campaign has garnered.

It really was quite an emotional event, listening to our amazing Members of Parliament, each presenting their own (and in some cases neighbouring) constituency Petitions.

These thousands of signatures will really assist in our desire to gain recognition for our quest, within the Corridors of Power.

CONSERVATIVE PARTY CONFERENCE DEMO

4TH OCTOBER 2016

WASPI women from all across the UK convened in Birmingham on the 4th October to protest at the Conservative Party Conference, in a bid to highlight their Campaign to achieve fair transitional arrangements for the injustices they have suffered at the hands of successive Governments.

They handed petitions bearing thousands of signatures to supporting Conservative MPs, with a view to these being presented to the Prime Minister and Pensions Minister at the Conference.

WASPI campaigners and spokespeople also spoke with and were interviewed by members of the press and media, to put across the case for financial recompense, including a bridging pension for all those affected by the lack of notice to changes in the women’s State Pension Age.

SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT RALLY

29TH SEPTEMBER 2016

Intrepid WASPI supporters and MSPs were in attendance on the 29th September 2016 outside the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood, to protest for fair transitional arrangements for women born in the 1950s.

WASPI women from throughout Scotland and beyond journeyed to Edinburgh to make their voices heard at the seat of Scottish democracy, campaigning for justice for women suffering from inadequate notice to changes in their retirement age.

The UUP hosted a cross party event in the morning which was attended by SDLP who presented NI petition to the Speaker, and Unionist MPs and MLAs. (Members of the Legislative Assembly)

NATIONAL DAY OF LOCAL ACTION

16TH SEPTEMBER 2016

WHY?

  • To keep our pension grievance 'alive' with our MPs and to ensure that they (continue to) support us and that they voice their support in Parliament and at their Party Conference!

  • To raise awareness locally - as many women are STILL expecting their pension at age 60

  • To recruit local women to join or start a local WASPI group

HOW?

  • Huge numbers of women (and many men too) protested outside town halls, Government buildings and other public places, Delivering a petition to the Prime Minister at Downing Street.

  • Other events saw MPs and Councillors speaking to large crowds, pledging support to the WASPI Campaign. These included representatives from all political parties, delivering a common message to Government:

WASPI will not take no for an answer. Public opinion is strongly with our cause, and we will NOT go away.

WE MADE SURE WE WERE SEEN AND HEARD!
